Standard and modified Proctor compaction mould sets per IS 2720 — for soil MDD and OMC testing at road quality labs and engineering colleges across Northeast India.
The Proctor Compaction test is the fundamental geotechnical laboratory test used to determine the maximum dry density and optimum moisture content of a soil sample. Every earthwork project — road embankment, dam fill, industrial platform, airport runway sub-base — specifies a compaction target as a percentage of the Proctor Maximum Dry Density (MDD). Field compaction teams use the laboratory result as the benchmark: they compact and test field cores until they reach the required percentage of the lab MDD, then move on. Without an accurate Proctor compaction result from a calibrated set, there is no valid compaction specification to enforce on the job site.
The standard Proctor test (IS 2720 Part 7) uses a 2.5 kg rammer dropped from 300 mm height and is appropriate for most embankment, fill and subgrade compaction specifications. The modified Proctor (IS 2720 Part 8), using a heavier 4.9 kg rammer, produces higher energy input and is used for subbase and base-course specifications under heavy-traffic pavement design. Multi Trade Combines supplies both mould sets — cylindrical mould, split collar, base plate, manual free-fall rammer, and soil extraction jack — to civil engineering labs, quality control teams and academic institutions across Assam and the Northeast.
Available at Multi Trade Combines, AT Road, Guwahati — serving NE India since 1991
Road and infrastructure project quality labs are the primary buyers. Every NHAI, NHIDCL, PWD and BRO project with earthwork specifications requires field compaction control backed by Proctor MDD data. Private geotechnical investigation firms serving Guwahati's real-estate and industrial construction market use Proctor data to specify fill compaction for column footings, strip foundations and ground-floor slabs. Engineering colleges and polytechnics throughout Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh teach soil mechanics practicals using IS 2720 Proctor sets — Multi Trade Combines has been the go-to supplier for institutional civil lab equipment in the region since 1991. The compaction set pairs with CBR testing machines and compression testing machines to build a complete materials-testing laboratory. Ships from our Guwahati counter; call for price.

The Proctor compaction test is governed by IS 2720 Part 7 (Light Compaction / Standard Proctor) and IS 2720 Part 8 (Heavy Compaction / Modified Proctor). The standard Proctor test uses a 2.5 kg rammer dropped from 300 mm over 3 layers of 25 blows each. The modified test uses a 4.9 kg rammer over 5 layers of 25 blows.
