About the Shakti CUT-40 Plasma

Counter expertise from Multi Trade Combines, AT Road, Guwahati — serving Northeast India since 1993.

Plasma cutting uses a superheated, ionised gas jet to melt and blow through electrically conductive metals — mild steel, stainless, aluminium, copper and brass — with a narrow, clean kerf and minimal heat-affected zone. The Shakti CUT-40 Plasma delivers up to 40 amperes of cut current from a single-phase 230 V supply, making plasma cutting accessible to workshops and fabrication sites that lack three-phase power. The SG-55 torch is included.

Compared to an oxy-acetylene or oxy-LPG flame-cutting setup, a plasma cutter is faster on thin-to-medium plate (up to 12 mm clean cut), produces far less heat distortion, requires no gas-welding skill or cylinder management for fuel gas, and can cut shapes and curves that flame cutting cannot manage cleanly. For stainless steel and aluminium — which cannot be flame-cut — plasma is the only practical thermal cutting method short of laser or waterjet.

Buyers across Northeast India: structural-steel plate shops in Guwahati cutting flanges, gussets and base plates; auto bodyshop panel beaters cutting patch panels from sheet; gate and grille fabricators in Dimapur cutting intricate patterns; kitchen equipment fabricators cutting stainless-steel sheet components; mining equipment repair workshops in Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh cutting worn-out bucket lips; construction plant hire workshops in Assam cutting base plates for scaffolding and temporary structures.

Consumables and accessories to pair with the CUT-40: plasma torch contact tips and nozzles (wear items that require regular replacement), inner shield/diffuser, torch body; also an air compressor delivering minimum 4–5 bar at adequate CFM (the plasma cutter requires a clean, dry compressed-air supply — include a moisture separator in your setup), and a welding-grade face shield or auto-darkening helmet rated for plasma at the cutting arc's UV emission level. We carry Shakti plasma torch consumables at our Guwahati counter.

Frequently Asked Questions

What air compressor do I need for the Shakti CUT-40 Plasma cutter?

The CUT-40 requires a minimum 4.5 bar (65 PSI) clean, dry compressed air supply. A 1.5–2 HP oil-free or oiled piston compressor with a minimum 24-litre tank and a moisture separator is adequate for intermittent cutting. For continuous production cutting use a larger compressor. We can advise on compressor pairing — call +91 91812 13332.

Can the Shakti CUT-40 cut stainless steel and aluminium?

Yes. Plasma cutting works on any electrically conductive metal including mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, copper and brass. The CUT-40's 40 A rating gives clean cuts on stainless up to 8–10 mm and mild steel up to 12 mm. Thicker cuts are possible but rougher; a 60 A or 80 A machine is more appropriate for thicker material.
