For daily workshop use in Northeast India, the Bosch GWS 1100 (4.5 inch, 1,100W) is the recommended choice — it is the most widely used professional angle grinder in NE India for a reason: reliable motor, repairable carbon brushes, and genuine spare parts available at our authorised Bosch counter on AT Road, Guwahati. The counter team will match disc size and watts to your specific grinding and cutting work.

For a workshop running 6–8 hours daily in Guwahati or anywhere in the Northeast, three things matter beyond wattage:
For the full range, see the power tools catalogue, the Bosch angle grinder buying guide, and the Bosch brand page.
A 4.5 inch (115 mm) angle grinder is the standard workshop and site tool — lighter (1.8–2.5 kg), easy to control for cutting MS sections, grinding welds and removing scale. A 7 inch (180 mm) grinder runs larger discs and handles faster material removal on heavier sections, but is heavier and requires more experience to control safely. For daily fabrication shop use — cutting angles, flats and pipes up to DN100, grinding welds — the 4.5 inch machine is the correct size. Step up to 7 inch when cutting heavy channel, I-beam or plate above 12 mm thickness.
Under moderate to heavy workshop use (4–6 hours daily), Bosch GWS series carbon brushes typically last 80–120 hours of actual motor running time — roughly 3–6 months in daily use. Inspect brushes every 50 hours: when the brush length is less than 6 mm or a quarter of its original length, replace both brushes as a set. Worn brushes cause intermittent power, sparking and eventual commutator damage. Multi Trade Combines stocks genuine Bosch carbon brush sets for the GWS series at our Guwahati counter.
Cutting discs (thin, 1–1.6 mm) are for cutting only — never use a cutting disc for grinding or lateral pressure work. Grinding discs (thick, 5–8 mm) are for grinding and weld cleaning — never use for cut-off work. Using the wrong disc for the wrong operation is dangerous: cutting discs shatter under lateral load. Flap discs are for finishing and blending. Always check the maximum RPM marked on the disc against your grinder's no-load speed — the disc RPM must equal or exceed the grinder speed.
