Which Bosch Grinder for Your Application?

The right model depends on what you actually do:

• Electrician, plumber, light contractor: GWS 600 — 100 mm, lightest in the range, cuts conduit and rebar, fits in a tool bag, runs from any socket.
• Workshop fabricator: GWS 6-125 — 125 mm covers more surface on plate and weld grinding. The most versatile disc size in NE India's abrasives market.
• General contractor (PWD, roads, bridges): GWS 900-100 — the extra wattage handles tough concrete aggregate, heavy rust and thick rebar without bogging down on full load.
• Heavy fabrication shed, structural steel: GWS 2200-180 or GWS 22-230 — production-grade machines for continuous grinding of structural beams, I-sections, weld seams on heavy plate.
• Site with limited power: GWS 600 or GWS 6-125 — 670 W draws only 3–4 A on single-phase 230 V. Runs comfortably on a 2 kVA generator or weak rural supply.

Bosch Blue vs Bosch Green — Know the Difference

Bosch sells two product lines:

• Bosch Professional (Blue): intended for professional continuous use. Higher duty cycles, better motor insulation, more robust construction, longer tool life. This is what we sell at Multi Trade Combines for all commercial and industrial applications.
• Bosch DIY (Green): lighter duty, designed for occasional home use. Lower duty cycle, lighter construction. Not recommended for site or workshop use.

Always confirm you are buying the blue (Professional) version. The product code is the clearest indicator — "GWS" prefixes are Bosch Professional.

Safety Points for NE India Field Use

Angle grinders are one of the most dangerous handheld tools when misused. After 33 years at the counter, these are the most common mistakes we see:

• Always fit the guard: it is not optional. A disc failure at 11,000 RPM sends fragments at lethal velocity. The guard deflects them. Many site workers remove guards for convenience — this is illegal and dangerous.
• Use the correct disc for the job: never use a stone cutting disc on metal, never use a metal cutting disc on stone. Check maximum disc RPM matches or exceeds the grinder's no-load speed.
• Inspect discs before use: tap a grinding disc — a cracked disc sounds dull. Discard any disc with chips, cracks or delamination. In NE India's humid conditions, discs stored in damp locations can delaminate.
• Two hands always: the side handle must be fitted and used at all times. A grinder kickback with one hand can be catastrophic.
• PPE: eye protection, face shield (for cutting), ear protection, leather gloves. Do not wear loose-sleeved clothing near a running grinder.
