A bar bending machine is an electrically powered construction tool that bends TMT (Thermo-Mechanically Treated) steel reinforcement bars to precise angles as specified in a bar bending schedule. A rotating bending pin on a turntable is set against a fixed pin; the TMT bar is placed between the pins and the motor rotates the turntable to the required angle — 45°, 90°, 135° or any angle between 0° and 180° depending on the model.

Most construction sites in Assam and Northeast India use TMT bars in the 8 mm to 32 mm range for columns, beams and slabs. A 32 mm capacity bar bending machine covers the vast majority of civil construction requirements — RCC columns, grade beams, pile caps and slab reinforcement.
