Walk-behind or dual-rotor? Petrol or electric? This guide matches power trowel specs to Assam and NE India site conditions — from small column footings to large warehouse slabs.
Concrete floor finishing is one of the most time-sensitive operations on any construction project. A power trowel — also called a helicopter or rotary trowel — compacts and smooths fresh concrete far faster than manual floating, and to a harder, denser finish. This guide is written for site engineers and contractors working across Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and the wider Northeast.
| Walk-Behind (Single Rotor) | One set of blades, operator walks behind. Suits pours up to 500 sq m. Easier to manoeuvre around columns and walls. Our standard stock at Guwahati. |
|---|---|
| Walk-Behind (Dual Rotor) | Two rotors on one frame, counter-rotating. Covers ground faster, better for large open bays. Higher weight keeps blades in firmer contact. |
| Ride-On Trowel | Operator sits on the machine. For very large slabs — warehouse decks, airport aprons. Expensive to purchase; most contractors hire these for specific pours. |
| Blade / Rotor Diameter | 600 mm (24"), 750 mm (30"), 900 mm (36"). Larger diameter covers more area per pass but is heavier and less manoeuvrable near edges. |
|---|---|
| Number of Blades | 4 or 5 blades per rotor. 4-blade suits most site work; 5-blade gives finer finish for industrial floors. |
| Engine / Motor | Petrol (Honda GX series most common) for outdoor/remote sites. Electric for indoor pours with access to power. Petrol is the practical choice for most NE India site conditions. |
| Engine Power | 4–6 HP for walk-behind units. Heavier mixes or larger rotors need the upper end. |
| Blade Pitch Control | Manual or hydraulic pitch adjustment. Variable pitch lets you move from floating (low pitch, high speed) to finishing (high pitch, lower speed) without stopping. |
| Handle Type | Folding handles for transport. Ergonomic grip reduces operator fatigue on large pours. |
| Guard / Float Pan | Floating pan attachment converts the machine for the first finishing pass. Ensure the model you choose has compatible pan accessories. |
Construction in Northeast India presents specific challenges for concrete finishing:
Browse the Power Trowel product page for specifications on the model we currently stock, or visit our Light Construction Machinery catalogue for related equipment including concrete mixers, vibrators and bar cutting machines.
We ship from our Guwahati warehouse to all Northeast Indian states. For bulk orders — contractor fleets or project procurement — call us for volume pricing and delivery schedule.
For a 500 sq ft (46 sq m) slab, a single-rotor 36-inch (900 mm) walk-behind trowel is adequate. For larger slabs — warehouse floors, factory decks — a dual-rotor machine or a ride-on trowel finishes faster and more evenly. We can help size the machine to your pour schedule.
Yes, though proper timing is critical. In Assam's humidity, concrete may retain bleed water longer — wait until the surface can support operator weight before starting the floating pass. An air-cooled petrol engine copes better with outdoor humidity than electric motors without weather protection.
Multi Trade Combines does not operate a hire fleet — we are a dealer and stockist. We sell walk-behind power trowels from our AT Road, Guwahati counter. For project hire, we can point you to local contractors. Call +91 91812 13332 for advice.
